Parallel event during the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women
Poverty, struggling to meet one’s basic needs, is the largest contributor to increasing a child’s vulnerability to child trafficking. Other particularly vulnerable groups are children with dysfunctional families or no parental care who often end up homeless and immigrant children with no documentation, limited education and knowledge of the language. The presenters describe effective programs that are being implemented to strengthen institutions to prevent children and adolescents from being trafficked.
